Nevzat Akoral

Nevzat Akoral (1926 Turgutlu- 2016 Ankara)

He completed his primary and secondary education in Turgutlu district, to which he is affiliated, as there was no school in his birthplace, Karaoğlanlı Village.
From 1949 until 1962, when he graduated from Gazi Education Institute, Painting and Crafts Department, where he passed the talent exam; He worked as an art teacher in the high schools and teacher training schools of the period.
He went to the United States with a scholarship he won in 1962 and studied graphics at Indiana University. When he returned home, he was appointed to the Gazi Education Institute, the school he graduated from. The artist, who trained students in the field of graphics and intaglio printing in collaboration with Mürşide İçmeli and Muammer Bakır, who were experts like him, retired in 1976.
Basically, as a local interpreter, he started painting with graphics and tried to highlight plastic elements such as patterns, lines and stains in the Ankara Shanty Houses, whose reality was original printing until 1970; Nevzat Akoral, who produces works in the field of graphics, began to reflect the daily life and local characteristics of the people of the Central Anatolia Region with oil paints with solid compositions after the seventies.
Akoral, who received achievement awards at the State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition for three years, was deemed worthy of the Atatürk’s 100th Birth Anniversary Exhibition Award in 1981.
The artist has works in the collections of the State Painting and Sculpture Museum and in private and official collections. He died in Ankara on Monday, August 1, 2016. He was buried in Ankara Karşıyaka Cemetery after the noon prayer on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, with the participation of artist friends, students and many art lovers.
