  Who is Nurcan Gültekin Torun? (1981 - Istanbul) She was born in Istanbul in 1981. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Istanbul. She graduated from Marmara University Fine Arts Department of Painting Teaching in 2004. In 2022, she completed her Master's degree with her thesis titled "Abstract Expressionism Movement in the Context of Spirituality" in Altınbaş University Plastic Arts Department. She taught Visual Arts in various institutions and public schools. She has been continuing her teaching profession at Kabataş Boys High School since 2015. Nurcan Gültekin Torun, who graduated from the ceramics department, is also interested in the art of marbling. She uses materials such as acrylic paint, ink and printing in her works and states that art is essentially an inner journey, an effort to "exist", and that the process of creation can only be realized by touching one's own world. The artist, who has participated in many mixed exhibitions, continues her work in her own studio. Art Perspective; The progress of art today independent of space and time, the merging of the past with the current, allows art to emerge from visual, auditory, dimensional areas and gain a spiritual form. All these efforts are in the nature of a reference to the issue of art’s existence and the artist’s I am and I am here voice. Art has ceased to be an image reflecting only the present and has sometimes become the creator’s past and sometimes the hope of the future. But this only progresses through the artist being unique and one and only. Because the artist himself decides on the concrete or abstract form of transfer and feedback. Based on this idea, the artist, who turns to experimental works, makes a journey from the footsteps of the past to the hope of the future. The artist believes that the spontaneous development of Ebru art in practice and the combination of various more planned techniques allow art to question innovatively. In his works planned as a free technique on canvas, the artist interprets my designs as a bridge between the past and the future by using various Ebru patterns together with sometimes ink and sometimes textural materials as a substructure.
