Who is Hakan Arıkan? (1980 – Malatya) Hakan Arıkan was born in 1980 in the Hekimhan district of Malatya. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education here. He graduated from the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Süleyman Demirel University in 2004. He completed his master's degree in the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Süleyman Demirel University, which he entered in 2008, in 2012. He completed his non-thesis master's degree in the Educational Sciences Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Mimar Sinan University in 2012-2013. He completed his Proficiency in Arts (PhD) education at the Faculty of Art and Design at Eskişehir Osmangazi University between 2014-2018 with the title of “Political Image in the Context of the Relationship between Art and Politics in Contemporary Art”. He graduated from the Philosophy Department of Istanbul University between 2018-2022. Arıkan, who became an associate professor in 2022, continues his academic and artistic studies at the Painting Department of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Fine Arts, and in his studio in Ankara. Art Perspective: Hakan Arıkan brings the masses together for different reasons while starting from the concept of power in his paintings. He starts from the basic human problems that progress to the point of increasing negative effects of today's conditions on people, loneliness in crowds, fear caused by insecurity, homelessness, displacement and lack of solutions. He also tries to bring the external states of individuals who are sometimes a herd, sometimes unhappy and anxious, sometimes uncommunicative, introverted and sometimes responsible and victim of what is happening to his paintings.
