Aret Gıcır’s one-man exhibition titled “After the Image” meets art lovers. The exhibition awaits its audience at Öktem Aykut between September 25 and November 9. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, September 25 between 18:30-20:30.

“After the Image” is inspired by the echoes of an ordinary day. Extraordinary landscapes, fleeting encounters and friendships that transcend time find their place in the works. At the same time, traces of an unexpected loss are one of the elements that guide “After the Image”.

The abstract forms in the area bear a resemblance to the “afterimages” that appear and disappear in the eye when looking at the sun or bright light. The complex blacks in Gıcır’s works and the colors that surround them create a contrast between depths and shadows.

The artist's visual narrative
The fluid forms in Gıcır's paintings invite the viewer to a visual narrative by resembling changing body parts. This narrative hints at unexpected possibilities and sometimes ghosts. In the foyer, the temporary but indelible traces left by experiences and relationships are explored.

Highlights of the exhibition
The exhibition will bring together art lovers with a series of 14 new large-format canvases in the lead role. This exhibition is Aret Gıcır's fourth one-man exhibition with Öktem Aykut. In addition, the monograph to be published will include a long interview between Gıcır and curator Anlam Arslanoğlu de Coster. The monograph also examines the artist's previous works. This monograph is preparing to offer a deep perspective on Gıcır's art.
