  • Who is Ayşe Şimşek? (1976 – Sinop) She was born in Sinop and completed her primary and secondary education in Sinop. She graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, Faculty of Fine Arts, where she started her art education in 1994, in 1998 and started working as an art teacher. She opened her first personal exhibition in 2003 and participated in various group exhibitions. She still continues her art works in her own studio in Sinop. The artist uses the signature Ayşe Ekşi Şimşek in her works. Art Perspective My existence on earth as a woman and her desire to leave a mark as a woman led her to meet with the Women of the Fairytale City. The creative process is a journey you make to yourself with sincerity and forgetting everything you know. The women she meets on these journeys sometimes represent a little bit of me, sometimes the souls of many women, women who dream, change and beautify reality in their own inner world. The blindfolded women in her figures symbolize free women with dreams who beautify and transform reality in their own colorful world. The strongest narrative element in his paintings is women, but the expressive power of colors is at least as important as what women say. This is an important part of his creative process for him. In his abstract figurative approach, concrete and abstract elements become subjective with the meanings he attributes to them. They become an indispensable part of this creative process and the resulting works.
