  • Who is Sema Çetin? (1976-Malatya) She was born in Malatya in 1976. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Malatya. She graduated from the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Inonu University in Malatya in 1999. After graduating, she was appointed as an art teacher in the Düziçi district of Osmaniye. She currently teaches art at the Düziçi Science and Art Education Center. She continues her work in her own studio in Düziçi. The artist, who researches the therapeutic aspect of art, published her statement titled “Dünüm Bugünüm” on this subject in EYFOR11 (International Education Management Forum). Art Persfective Since my childhood, I have observed the reflections of individuals’ perceptions of existence and self on life. These observations have been the starting points of my process of understanding, interpreting, living and conveying life and have guided my artistic life. I have transferred the existence of the individual, his place in life and the deep loneliness of the self to the canvas with portraits of women under the influence of eastern culture. The peintures that I frequently use in my works are a reflection of contemporary life and the traces it leaves behind. The change of balances with the pandemic experienced in 2020 gave a new direction to my artistic transfer process and the first formations of the “Power” series began. The Raven I use in my works represents power, wisdom, mystery and is nature itself. In the Power series, I questioned the struggle and connection of man with those who are stronger than him.
