“We have a dream of Denizli that brings together all colors of art”
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, who made the opening speech of the program, thanked everyone who contributed to this exhibition, especially Dr. Figen Gürsoy and everyone who attended the opening, befitting the city of art Denizli. Mayor Çavuşoğlu said, “We want everyone to smile and be happy in this city. We want everyone who wants to do art to find a piece, those who want to do agriculture, those who want to walk on the streets, the young and the old, women and men, our friends with every political view, Kurds, Turks, Circassians and Lazs, to live in a city where everyone finds themselves. As always, we also have a dream of a city that makes peace with art and brings together all colors of art. Let’s meet in a beautiful Turkey where art can be understood better and those who engage in art are not judged on more enjoyable and beautiful days,” he said.
“The love of Yaşar Kemal brought us together”
Dr. Figen Gürsoy, who brought together Yaşar Kemal’s works with miniature art, said, “The love of Yaşar Kemal and the exhibition “Man is the World” brought us together here. The first of this exhibition was opened in İzmir, the second in Eskişehir and the third in Bandırma. Denizli is our fourth address. Yaşar Kemal left behind a magnificent treasure consisting of 57 books. And that treasure was full of sentences that instilled love, peace and hope about everything that is good, right and beautiful in life. I believe that we have an obligation to ensure that Yaşar Kemal’s pure world of thought unites with our pure worlds and is passed on to future generations as power, trust and beauty. I have completed this series by putting in four years of my life, five years in total with exhibitions, with this very obligation. I would like to thank Yaşar Kemal’s precious wife Ayşe Semiha Baban, Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu and those who contributed to this opportunity.”
Yaşar Kemal Foundation Representative Prof. Dr. Kenan Mortan also stated that the name Yaşar Kemal can only live on through generations and thanked Dr. Figen Gürsoy, who contributed to this special exhibition, and Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, which hosted it. After the speeches, Mayor Çavuşoğlu and his entourage examined the exhibition, one by one, consisting of Dr. Figen Gürsoy’s works, where 57 of Yaşar Kemal’s works were interpreted through miniature art. The exhibition can be visited at the Turan Bahadır Exhibition Hall until December 31.
