Evrim Art Gallery brought together art lovers with the opening of the exhibition titled “Goats Without Missing Goats” by Mehmet Kına, one of the important names in mosaic art, on Saturday, November 30. Leading names of the art community and art lovers came together at the opening cocktail party of the exhibition.
Artist Mehmet Kına shared the following thoughts about the exhibition:
“This exhibition consists of mosaic paintings examining the processes of goats and humans living together. Turkmens, who formed a life together with deers in Central Asia, started living with goats instead of deers when they came to Anatolia. Since goats and deers have similar behavioral patterns, they do not have much difficulty in this transition. The language formed by the Turkmens’ process of living together with goats, which has exceeded a thousand years, is also reflected in the artist’s works. Therefore, the names of the works also reflect this situation.”
Among the works in the exhibition, there are remarkable names such as "Goats Escaping from the Herd", "Security", "Fruit Tree's Test with Goats", "Cistern Head", "New Goat to the Barracks", "Bagged Goat", "Trunk Black" and "Milk". This exhibition offers the opportunity to witness the test of mosaic art with goats. A new one is added to the aestheticization of the goat in archaeological mosaic panels found in Anatolia throughout history.
Betül Ketenci, the founder of Evrim Art Gallery, emphasized that she was honored to host this special exhibition of the valuable artist Mehmet Kına. We are waiting for all art lovers who want to see the works that have received great appreciation from the audience to Evrim Art Gallery.
The exhibition can be visited at Evrim Art Gallery until December 18, 2024.
