Who is Güneş Şahin? (1967 – Aksaray)

Güneş Şahin was born in 1967 in Aksaray. She graduated from the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Education at Gazi University in Ankara between 1985-1989. She taught painting in primary and secondary schools in Zonguldak, Bursa and Ankara. She continued her own painting works along with her profession. She opened 10 personal exhibitions and participated in fairs and group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. She retired in 2014 and then established Güneş Şahin Art Studio. She has been continuing her works here since then.

Art Perspective;
Painting was the magical world of my childhood. Wherever I saw a beautiful painting, I could not help but admire it. In middle school, I would make portraits exactly like them. It was such a passion that I would apply them without missing a word from the teacher. At first, including my university years, visual plastic values ​​were important to me. Later, I looked at art by thinking and questioning everything. There were so many sources of inspiration and information for me that I started somewhere. I created my symbolism language within the existential understanding. Doors and Light (Transition), Aquarium (Existence), Keys (Characters), Cranes (Commando birds), Sword (justice), Human (divine essence of nature, brain), Lines (nothingness, magnetic frequency) etc. I have been producing my own painting materials since 2008. At first, I was purchasing certain colors from the market due to low-quality pigments. Since 2010, I have been preparing all my colors and textures myself. My entire workshop setup is based on the oil painting technique. With the organic structure of oil painting specific to nature, I am spiritually drawn to inner depths. This has become my indispensable passion.
