İnci Çokneşeli

Who is İnci Çokneşeli? (1956-İstanbul)

Born on June 3, 1956 in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, the artist studied at Beşiktaş Barbaros Primary School, then continued her secondary education at Özel Işık High School, then completed her high school education at Kadıköy Girls High School. The artist, who entered the State Fine Arts Academy in the 1973-1974 period, entered the Adnan Çöker Studio after Basic Art Education. After taking a break from school in 1977, she returned to school in 1982 and graduated from the Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department Adnan Çöker Studio in 1985.

She studied Lithography as an applied course. In addition to her painting works, she also works on lithography (stone printing), Zinc and Linoleum Printing (Original Printmaking Techniques). After continuing his painting studies in Debrecen, Hungary between 2010-2011, the artist returned to Istanbul in 2011 and has been living in Izmir since April 2017. The artist has paintings in private (personal) and institutional collections.

Art Perspective:
I believe that art is universal and unique to the individual in our age. The most important element for this universality is the human being. The human being is the most important, yet insignificant being in nature, full of contradictions. Although he should be with nature, he sometimes betrays it and sees himself as the superior of all creatures, and is a being with a lot of stories. In this context, my works mostly contain long stories. What I see, what I research and what I read, what I feel and what I think are put on canvas or paper with a certain infrastructure (composition, space, pattern, color, etc.) and a unique technique.
