The traditional October Passage Interdisciplinary Exhibition, which brings art lovers together in Izmir, opened its doors for the 23rd time this year. The exhibition, which was held between October 21-31, 2024, met with art lovers at the Uğur Mumcu Culture and Art Center.

This event, which was brought to life with the support of Bornova Municipality, brings together both professional and amateur artists on the same platform. The exhibition exhibits works that reflect the achievements of our Republic and Atatürk’s vision through art.

The artistic reflection of the Republic

This year’s theme of the exhibition emphasizes the importance that the Republic and Atatürk gave to art. The October Passage exhibitions, which started in 2002 with the initiative of Gülşen Erbil, aim to create a platform for artists and offer a free space of creation. This year's exhibition will feature approximately 200 works of art, including disciplines such as painting, sculpture and photography.

Mayor Eşki: "Art is one of the most valuable achievements of our Republic"

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized its unifying power over societies and said, "Art is one of the most valuable achievements of our Republic. Events such as the October Passage exhibition reveal the creative power of individuals from different segments of our society, while offering us the opportunity to celebrate art and freedom in the light of our Republic. As Bornova Municipality, we will always continue to stand by art."

One of the project managers, Feriha Dağlı, stated that the October Passage is not just an exhibition, but a symbol of the Republic's influence on creative art, and that such events will further advance the freedom of art and the principle of contemporaneity.

Artists and young painters on the same stage

One of the most striking aspects of the exhibition is that child artists have also been included for the last three years. The works of children who have been introduced to art at a young age are exhibited on the same platform with professional artists. This situation inspires future artists and attracts great attention from art lovers.

This artistic feast will be open to visitors at the Uğur Mumcu Culture and Art Center until October 31, 2024.
