Who is Mümin Candaş? (1971-Trabzon)
He was born in Beşikdüzü, Trabzon. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education at Vakfıkebir. He completed his undergraduate education at the Department of Painting and Craft Teaching at the Fatih Faculty of Education of K.T.Ü in the period of 1990-1994. He was appointed as a teacher at Samandağ Secondary School in Samandağ district of Hatay province. He won the Environmental and Visual Arts Master’s Program at Istanbul Technical University in 1996. He was appointed as a visual arts educator at Istanbul Şişli Sait Çiftçi Primary School in the same year. He completed his master’s degree in 2000. He has been working as a Visual Arts Educator at Trabzon-Akçaabat Fine Arts High School since 2002. He has been serving as the President of the Black Sea Plastic Arts Association since 2013.
The artist, who still continues his paintings in his own private studio, has participated in numerous international and national mixed exhibitions and painting workshops, including 10 personal ones.
Art Perspective;
In my paintings, I address the relationship between humans and nature, the concept of depth, with my own interpretation. I reshape and paint the effect of nature on humans with aesthetic interpretations. In this way, I create works that will reveal my own tastes. In the colors and compositions I usually use, I am in search of balance, rhythm and time, this balance is nature’s color balance and reflections, sometimes I express the common feelings of every person using analogies from nature, for example, I can give examples such as Shelters, Old Boats, Butterflies, Clouds, Trees or Birds.
The images I use in my paintings create color plans that extend with the concept of time, while leaving traces with their shadows in the environments they are in. Shadow is the trace left behind by the existence of that moment. It is similar to the soul, it represents your existence, your mass and your living, it is your body trace, in other words, or the shadow of a cloud, the shadow is actually about that moment, in what I do in my paintings, these are actually the traces of what I feel about that moment, the colors and shapes are the ones that are familiar to me and the traces of those I know, which I share in my paintings. Painting is a new world that I produce on every canvas, where I stay with myself, a world that belongs to me. Having an audience, sharing it does not change this fact, it belongs to me. For this reason, the flags of my own world are in my paintings. Every country, every border has a sign, and in my painting, my flags are hanging on a pole, in a space or on a piece of bush that belongs to me.
