Who is Aysen Yılmaz? (1950 – Antalya) She was born in Antalya in 1950. She completed her primary and secondary education in Izmir Tire. She graduated from the Graphics Department of the Painting Department of Buca Education Institute in 1974. She was appointed to Van Girls Teachers High School in the same year. She worked as an art teacher at Izmir Kestelli Middle School and Şerif Remzi Primary Schools. After her retirement, she started printmaking at the Izmir Painting and Sculpture Museum workshop. The artist, who has participated in more than forty mixed exhibitions to date, currently continues her work at the Izmir Art Factory Printmaking workshop. She has held solo exhibitions and participated in many mixed exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Her works have been exhibited in Brazil, Bulgaria, Romania, Varna, Japan, Florence Museum, Işık University and entered the catalogs. She has four awards in competitive exhibitions. She usually uses wood and metal printing techniques. Her whole world is colors, textures and stains. She has a structure that has watched and internalized what nature has to offer since childhood. These accumulations are spontaneously poured into the material they create in their minds. The traces left by water on the ground, the stains, the textures, the dances of the clouds in the sky, the climatic conditions, the nature they observe everywhere are the artist's lifestyle. He creates his works by combining them without ignoring the artistic rules he received his education. He integrates with the material while working, he is alone with his own world. A calm music moves his soul. He feels closer to nature with his favorite material, wood. He carves, he carves, he scrapes. Time is of no importance. He gets lost in his work. When the moment of printing comes, a new excitement begins in the riot of colors. He fills his palette with colors, mixes them. He creates tones. He brings wood together with paper without disturbing the balance of dark, medium, light. He feels the same excitement over and over again when each color comes out and finishes the print. The peace he feels when he enters the frame and watches is enough. He tries to give the same feeling to the viewer.
