Who is Handan Korkmaz? (1980-Sivas)
The artist, born in Sivas, was entitled to receive a 100% scholarship in Yeditepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Plastic Arts (Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics) in 2000 and graduated in 2005 with the 3rd degree in the faculty and department. After graduation, she opened her own studio in Istanbul and continued her work. During this period, she took part in many projects, group exhibitions and opened three solo exhibitions. In 2018, she received a scholarship again at the same university and completed her Master's degree in the Department of Plastic Arts, Institute of Social Sciences. In 2019, she received an award in the painting category at the Service to Art, Appreciation and Crowning award ceremony organized by Lions Clubs. In 2024, she received the Best of Culture Role Model award in the Painting category by the Cultural and Educational Institutions. She is a member of the United Painters and Sculptors Association (BRHD). She currently continues her painting work in her studio in Istanbul.

How many people are we in one body?
We are different characters that we keep hidden in our brains and take on as we please. When you look in the mirror, you see whatever you are thinking and feeling “at that moment”!
Is this you? Or is it the reflection of the character of that moment?
Apart from what appears colorful, we all have hidden characters that we cannot reveal that we always have inside us. The ones that appear colorful in the real world and the ones that are opposite to what is visible in our brains... We are the architects of our own prison that we have built in a corner of our brains. And in that prison, we are actually our black and white selves.
