Who is Mehlika Korol? (1956-Izmir) She was born in Izmir. She graduated from the Painting Department of Buca Education Institute in 1978-1979. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Painting Department of Dokuz Eylul University Buca Faculty of Education in 1987. She worked at the Salzburg International Summer Academy in the Prof. Jacobo Borges Studio in 1995. She retired from Izmir Karatas High School in 2002 and worked as a paid instructor in the Painting and Art History Department of the Ballet Department of Izmir Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory in the same year and as an instructor in the Painting Department of Buca Faculty of Education in Izmir between 2003-2006. She worked as an art teacher at the Konak Municipality of Izmir for 11 years starting from 2004. The artist also received a certificate from Prof. Henry de Lumley in the summer of 2010 after making successful moulage studies at the workshop of the Centre Europe'en de Recherches Pre'historiques Tautavel Museum. For two years, he regularly participated in drawing archaeological findings and excavation works at Grotte du Lazaret. He carried out the live performance Painting activity in Turkey and Greece within the scope of the activities of the Izmir International Culture and Art Festival organized within the scope of the Civil Society Dialogue II Culture and Art Program (CSD-II/CA) conducted by the Ministry of European Union between June 2-10, 2012. The artist is also a member of the International Plastic Artists Association and has participated in many mixed and competitive exhibitions. His works are in domestic and international collections. In his new period works, the artist seems to have set out to discover the ways of moving like water, changing with the wind, and the endless flow of life. This means playing on the edge of the unformed. The artist produces his works with the desire to start a new moment, an adventure, where he can find the real reflection of his own self in the depth of the invisible mutual spread of visible differences and the points or traces of the relations that form the wave-like spread of the knowledge of abstract truths, outside of being himself, as a part of the vast impersonal universe.
