Who is Vedat Örs? (1961 – Uşak) Born in Uşak in 1961, he graduated from Ankara University in 1984. He worked in his own studio in Paris between 2003-2006. He has opened nearly thirty exhibitions to date, including New York Syr, Paris and Prague exhibitions. He has participated in international workshops in Moldova and Pennsylvania. He continues his work in Istanbul. Vedat Örs, who has left behind 35 years of his artistic life, is an artist known within his generation for his artistic attitude, vision and experimental approach. Vedat Örs and His Understanding of Art; Vedat Örs' works offer a powerful combination of simplicity and depth. The artist's abstract works on paper are not only a visual aesthetic, but also create an area of experience that invites the viewer to think, feel and create their own meanings. While the spontaneous energy and natural forms in his brush strokes draw attention in his art, the use of space and materials also have an important place. Örs emphasizes the organic rhythm of nature and the natural flow of processes in his works. This approach reflects the understanding of the “fullness of emptiness” in Zen philosophy and the Taoist principle of “effortless effort” (wu wei). Each brushstroke is like an echo from the artist’s inner world, as well as a reference to the ever-changing and evolving essence of nature and man. These works, which carry a philosophical depth, are reminiscent of Nietzsche’s balance between “Apollonian order and Dionysian ecstasy.” Balanced compositions represent a creative space where chaos and order come together. At the same time, Heidegger’s idea that art is a space that reveals existence and truth also comes to life in the works. Vedat Örs’ understanding of art celebrates the process rather than the result. Each work bears the traces of a creative process, not a moment. This perspective parallels Bergson’s concept of continuity (durée): The uninterrupted flow of time and movement is felt in an abstract form in the works. The artist invites the viewer to become a part of the work by using a minimalist and abstract language. This approach carries a postmodern openness and transforms the viewer into an active participant. This area where everyone can discover their own meanings reminds us of the power of art to create a universal language. Vedat Örs' works are a journey to the essence of nature, man and art. The transformation of simple materials such as paper and paint into metaphors in the artist's hands reflects the simple yet profound nature of life.
