The opening of the exhibition was held on May 22, with the participation of names from the world of art, politics, business and media, including IMM Cultural Heritage Department Head Oktay Özel, IMM Culture Department Head T. Volkan Aslan, the artist's son Ümit İyem, his grandson Osman Nuri İyem and his wife Gizem Kahya İyem. It took place on Wednesday evening. The "Solo Botter: Nuri İyem" exhibition, which aims to remind the unique artist personality and works of painter Nuri İyem, known for his portraits of Anatolian women and one of the leading names of the social realist movement, can be visited free of charge at Casa Botter between 23 May and 29 August.

Casa Botter Botter, which played an important role in the revival of culture and arts on Istiklal Street, together with the symbolic structures of Beyoğlu memory, as a result of the restoration and re-functional works of IBB Miras within the body of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, will present the second of the "Botter Exhibitions" series with art lovers under the title "Solo Botter: Nuri İyem". brings together.

Symbol of migration from village to city

Nuri İyem's art focuses on images with which we can establish an emotional closeness as soon as we look at them. His iconic female faces, which he reinterprets each time, his landscapes that take on a romantic atmosphere by intensifying with color and light, his figural compositions that became symbols of migration from village to city for his time, his loving portraits of lovers who do not lose hope despite all kinds of poverty and difficulties, spread his love of painting to all segments of society. It is full of signs of desire. This exhibition, curated by Levent Çalıkoğlu and assistant curator by İrem Büşra Coşkun, brings together characteristic works from different periods of Nuri İyem, who settled in front of the canvas to analyze his search for an essence specific to the geography he lives in in every theme he focuses on.

The "Solo Botter: Nuri İyem" exhibition, hosted by IBB Culture and IBB Heritage, awaits its visitors free of charge at Casa Botter Botter, between 10.00 - 19.00 every day except Mondays, between 23 May - 29 August 2024.
