Hasan Kalyoncu University’s Dr. Atiye Güner met with art lovers at SANKO Art Gallery with her “Space and Human” themed exhibition. The exhibition can be visited until November 15.

Hasan Kalyoncu University Faculty of Communication Visual Communication Design Department Head Dr. Lecturer Atiye Güner presented her works themed “Space and Human” to art lovers at SANKO Art Gallery in Gaziantep. Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Dr. Güner drew attention to the unifying power of art and emphasized that young generations should be encouraged to art.

Touching on the aspect of art that unites and transforms society, Atiye Güner stated that the concept of space is generally defined as a limited void. “Space is a word derived from the root ‘kev’n’, meaning to be, and symbolizes existence. Humans have been in constant interaction with space since their existence. On the one hand, it is a subject that shapes the void, and on the other hand, it is an object transformed by the void.” He also emphasized that in modern art, space is a dynamic element representing the existence of the work of art.

Güner, who drew attention to local values as well as his works created with contemporary techniques in the exhibition, stated that the sustainability of culture and art has gained importance today. “The greatest binding value that keeps societies together is culture. In today’s world, sustainable culture is given great importance and more work needs to be done on this subject,” he said.

Güner, who said that art is an exchange of images and that the viewer can find something from their own world in the works, said, “Art is a softening, unifying and socially unifying tool.” Stating that SANKO Holding leads the way in the social and cultural fields in addition to its contributions to both the regional and national economy, Dr. Güner expressed his pleasure in exhibiting his works at the SANKO Art Gallery and thanked SANKO Management for their support.

Following the opening speeches, the work titled “Zeugma Fırat’ın Neckdanlığı” was presented to Atiye Güner by Akcan Barlas on behalf of SANKO Holding. The opening of the exhibition was attended by SANKO Art Gallery Executive Board Vice President Cengiz Halil Çiçek, academics from Gaziantep University, artists and many art lovers.
