Delivering the opening speech of the award ceremony, ÇAĞSAV Vice President of the Board of Directors Naz Balkan Gürses stated that the awards given were an encouragement that she hoped would inspire society and the young generations and summarized the following: “As ÇAĞSAV, we have been giving out two separate honorary awards every year since 2001, one for individuals and one for institutions. Our honorary awards were specially prepared for ÇAĞSAV by the valuable sculptor Mr. Mehmet Aksoy. These awards are not only an expression of gratitude; they are also an encouragement that artists and art institutions hope will inspire society and young generations. And this year, in the 22nd year of our honorary awards, we gave our Personal Award to our valuable artist Nevhiz Tanyeli, who has spent a life dedicated to art and enriched our cultural world with his works, and our institutional honorary award to Arkas Art Center, which, in his own words, set out with the desire to share artistic beauties with art lovers instead of keeping them to themselves and has helped raise individuals with high artistic awareness with the venues they have established. We would like to thank our valuable sponsors Divan Çukurhan and Rahmi Koç Museum, who ensured that the Republic events were held in a historical venue, in the courtyard of an old Ankara inn. We are also excited to introduce the ÇAĞSAV collection exhibition consisting of artists raised by the Republic to visitors for the first time. Our exhibition will be open to visitors for two weeks.”
