The Contemporary Arts Gallery, which is a reflection of the importance Odunpazarı Municipality attaches to culture and art, has completed its preparations to bring its 35th exhibition together with art lovers. The "My Name is Engraving" exhibition, which will open on Tuesday, April 15 at 18:00, will present the works of famous engraving artist Fatih Mika to art lovers.

Fatih Mika shapes his art on a multi-layered cultural ground, using the engraving technique as a means of expression where space and time intertwine, beyond being a form of expression. Mika's works present poetic images born from the combination of past and future, personal memory and social memory. The engravings in the exhibition are shaped with details that salute Ottoman symbolism and the powdery transitions of the sandblasting technique. Drawing attention with monochrome or multi-chromatic touches, these works reveal the artist's two-dimensional perspective. When viewed from a distance, they create hyper-realistic impressions, while when viewed from a closer perspective, layered structures emerge where feathers, clothes and fish scales turn into writings or decorative elements.

Fatih Mika's works contain not only visual aesthetics but also a deep system of thought. Born in Türkiye, living in Italy and defining all three countries as his "homeland", the artist's works are shaped by metaphors of migration, belonging, stopping and setting off. Images such as dervishes, pigeons and city seagulls are symbols of the artist's inner journey and his poetic testimonies written over time. Fatih Mika, who also teaches at the Fine Arts Academies of Rome, Foggia, Venice and Florence, continues to carry his art into the future thanks to the bond he has established with his students.

Odunpazarı Municipality Contemporary Arts Gallery invites viewers not only to a visual experience but also to a journey of memory, poetry and thought with its "My Name is Engraving" exhibition. The exhibition can be visited every day between 10:00 and 18:00 until May 20, 2025.
