Celebrating its 100th anniversary, Türkiye İş Bankası is exhibiting the reflections of its pioneering role in the cultural and social development of our country for a century at the Economic Independence Museum in Ulus, Ankara.

Türkiye İş Bankası, founded on August 26, 1924 with the directives of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. In accordance with its founding mission and philosophy, “Türkiye’nin Bankası” has been providing all kinds of contributions not only to the economic but also to the cultural and social development of our country for a full century; supporting culture-art, science, education, sports, the environment and cultural heritage, and working to pass on this heritage to future generations.

The exhibition “Security of Your Future - A Century with Turkey’s Bank” prepared at the Economic Independence Museum in Ulus, Ankara, as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of Türkiye İş Bankası, was opened with a press meeting attended by İş Sanat General Manager Zuhal Üreten and Türkiye İş Bankası Corporate Communications Manager Müge Nevşehirli Veziroğlu.

Zuhal Üreten stated that the Economic Independence Museum, which has been hosting visitors for five years in the historical building that is one of the iconic structures of Ulus, has quickly gained a very important place in Ankara’s cultural and artistic life and has become a valuable resource for visitors with both its qualified collection and exhibitions. Üreten also said, “Our exhibition presents a summary of the contributions İş Bankası, which ‘has a place in the economy on its own’ in the history of the Republic, has made throughout a century, to the country’s rise from the ashes and the struggle for total development, as well as the sincere story of being Turkey’s bank.”

Müge Nevşehirli Veziroğlu stated that İş Bankası, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, has supported many different works in many areas from culture and arts to education, from sports to the environment, from sustainability to entrepreneurship, and stated that the Bank's contribution to social development can be seen in the "Safety of Your Future" exhibition as an inseparable part of its founding mission and century-long history.

İŞ BANK'S CENTURY-OLD JOURNEY

The exhibition begins with the strong social responsibility projects that İş Bankası has carried out from the past to the present. The educational institution collaborations implemented with the slogan “Our Biggest Investment is in the Future”, the activities carried out to create a “More Egalitarian World”, the importance given to women’s employment, and the projects implemented to develop the entrepreneurship field in our country and gathered under the title “Entrepreneurs with Big Dreams are Here” are explained with rich written and visual content. The section titled “The World is Ours, the Future is Ours” shows the protection of forests and seas in our country within the framework of İş Bankası’s sustainability approach, the support of agricultural production with high-tech systems, and the Bank’s commitments for the future.

Another main section of the exhibition covers the Bank’s publishing activities carried out with Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları since 1956; the activities in the field of performing arts and plastic arts, which it has implemented under the İş Sanat brand since 2000, cultural heritage and archaeology projects, and the great support it has given to our country’s cultural and artistic life in the fields of museums.

The history of İş Bankası’s support for sports, which started with the support of national wrestlers in the 1930s and continues today with the sponsorships of the Turkish Chess Federation and the Turkish National Olympic Committee, and its vision of carrying it to the second century also constitute one of the main sections of the exhibition.

The exhibition also invites visitors to the advertising journey of a brand that has updated itself according to the flow of time throughout its century-long history. The advertisements, which started in 1924 and diversified and developed in the following years, bringing together creativity with the messages it carried, document the early period of the Bank and advertising with a rare richness.
