Who is Turgut Berkes? (1953 Izmir – 2018 Bodrum)
He studied at TED Ankara College and then at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art. He worked as a radio programmer, librarian, journalist and translator until 1989. Together with his partner at the time, Fuat Güner (a member of the Turkish pop music group: Mazhar-Fuat-Özkan (MFÖ)), they founded “FT Recording Studios”, which has the most advanced technology in Turkey.
In 2000, he released his solo music album “Kara Kutu”, which received great acclaim. The artist continues to live and work in Istanbul; In addition to literary and technical translation works, music productions, rehearsals, concert works, he also worked on the “compilation virtual album” project, which included works from the “Karakutu” album. His last years and death
The artist, who started living in his house in a quiet bay in Bodrum with his family and cats since 2007, wrote song lyrics, made translations and paintings there. Turkish rock musician, writer and painter Turgut Berkes, who also met with names such as his artist friend İlban Ertem, died of a heart attack in Bodrum on August 20, 2018, at the age of 65.
