Ümran Baradan

Who is Ümran Baradan? (1945-2011)

His grandfather is poet İsmail Hakkı Baradan, and his father is Classical Turkish music artist Ulvi Baradan. He is the child of a Crete-Thessaloniki immigrant family. He is the nephew of cinema and theater artist and journalist Hüseyin Baradan. She is the mother-in-law of journalist Uğur Dündar.

After completing his primary education at Gazi Primary School in Alsancak and high school in Izmir, the artist graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography. He worked as a tile maker in Kütahya during his high school years. He also studied at the Vienna Faculty of Fine Arts with the “interstate talents scholarship”.
He was in the USA between 1966 and 1968 to draw medical pictures. She served as the Turkey representative of the International Artists Association until 1994, and the following year, she became a “first name” in this field by assuming the position of worldwide general president of the International Women’s Solidarity Association.

He did many studies on ceramic art and opened exhibitions. He founded the Anatolian Fine Arts High School, which he named after himself and whose architecture he designed [3]. The artist, who has contributed to many museums around the world, gifted the Ümran Baradan Game and Toy Museum, together with its building and exhibited materials (toys he collected from various world countries), to Izmir Konak Municipality.

Ümran Baradan has been elected as an honorary member of many international institutions and organizations. He died at the age of 66 at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, where he was treated for stomach cancer.
